Video Wall Playback
Combine TVs into one large picture. Use whole media and let rows, columns and numeric device labels determine the area shown on each screen.
Choose the right approach
| Desired result | Choose | Program setup | Video Wall switch in the device group |
|---|---|---|---|
| Every TV shows the same complete picture | Same-Screen | An ordinary program using the Default screen group | Off |
| Each TV has its own content, including manually split parts of a panorama | Multi-Screen | One program with named screen groups that match device labels | Off |
| TVs form one large picture, with each showing its assigned area automatically | Video Wall | Whole media in the Default screen group; no pre-splitting | On; set rows/columns and use numeric device labels |
Same-Screen repeats a picture; Multi-Screen assigns different content; Video Wall divides one whole picture automatically. All three can use Sync Playback to align their timelines. That setting controls timing, not which part of the picture each screen displays.
Before you begin: plan the physical layout
This example uses four matching landscape TVs arranged in 2 rows × 2 columns. Update Admin and Player, check that the Video Wall controls shown here are available, and make sure every Player is bound and can receive programs.
Use devices with matching sizes, resolutions and orientations where possible. Verify positions with one complete image before testing video.
Step 1: Enable Video Wall in a device group
In Admin, open My Device, then the group menu at the top right. In Group / Video Wall, add a group or edit an existing one. Our example group is named Demo-2x2.
In Group Detail, turn Video Wall on, then click the layout text on the left, such as Horizontal 1x1.
Choose the orientation of each screen and the number of rows and columns in the whole wall. For four landscape TVs in two rows and two columns, choose Horizontal and 2×2. Clicking row 2, column 2 in the grid selects all four numbered cells.
After changing the layout, confirm the dialog, then click the Save action that appears at the top right of Group Detail. Confirming the layout dialog alone does not save the device group.
For each participating device, open its details and use Device Group → + to add it to this group.
Step 2: Give each device a numeric position
Open each device's details and click Device Label (Video Wall Screen Number). Number the screens left to right, then top to bottom, from 1 to rows × columns.
For a 2×2 wall:
| Left TV | Right TV |
|---|---|
1 — top left | 2 — top right |
3 — bottom left | 4 — bottom right |
Use a numeric position here, not Device Name or a text label such as Left or Right. Each position should have a unique number. Empty or out-of-range labels cause Player to show a numbering prompt.
Step 3: Use whole media in the Default screen group
Create an ordinary program, add a complete image or video to a full-screen child screen, and keep Screen Group: Default at the top.
No pre-splitting needed
Do not create separate screen groups named 1, 2, 3 and 4. Video Wall uses the same Default group and automatically shows the appropriate area on each device.
Match the media aspect ratio to the whole wall. Four 16:9 landscape TVs in a 2×2 wall still form a 16:9 picture. Three TVs in one row form a 48:9 picture. A mismatch can introduce borders or cropping.
For video, choose Default under Player Settings → Video Decoder. At the TV, press the remote's Back button to open the home screen, then open Settings. Touchscreen devices without a remote can double-tap the playback screen. Native and Native2 do not support Video Wall playback.
Step 4: Cast to the Video Wall group
Save the program and click Cast. Choose To Device Group and select the Video Wall group configured earlier.
Cast through the device group. Selecting individual devices directly does not include that group's wall layout.
Open Start/End Time/Priority/Playback Mode in the cast dialog. Choose Sync Playback and use the same synchronization time source on every device. Online synchronization (Cloud Sync) is recommended when internet access is available; devices in one LAN Sync group should use the same channel.
Check the schedule, return and confirm the cast. Wait for every device to receive the program, then check that the four positions form one complete picture.
What needs another cast after a change?
| Change | Next action |
|---|---|
| Enable/disable Video Wall, change rows/columns or orientation | Save the device group, then cast the program to that group again |
| Change a device's numeric label | Saving the label refreshes its viewport without another cast. If it does not refresh, check connectivity and try Sync Now |
| Edit program media or layout | Save the program and update the cast content |
Troubleshooting
- Every TV shows the whole picture: check the Video Wall switch, save the group and cast again through To Device Group.
- Wrong position or a numbering prompt: check that labels are valid numbers ordered left to right, then top to bottom.
- Missing or unexpected content: keep whole media in the Default screen group and wait for downloads to finish.
- Blurred images or stuttering video: check source resolution and device performance. A 2×2 wall of 1080p TVs generally needs a 3840×2160 source for the corresponding pixel detail. Each device still processes the full source, so decoding and memory requirements exceed those of a single-screen-sized file.
- Edges or transitions still differ: use matching devices, orientation and correct system clocks, then verify on site. Sync Playback does not provide hardware frame locking. Bezel compensation, mixed screen sizes and complex interactive web content have no specialized adaptation.
