Schools and Communities: Noticeboards

For school lobbies, community centers and institutional displays. Build a landscape board with document pages on the left, event images on the right and a short reminder along the bottom.

Begin with one everyday program, then add a temporary high-priority notice. Use your own approved text, dates and contact information.

1. Prepare readable content

ContentSuggested preparation
Main noticeA PDF of up to three pages, or individual page images
Event publicityTwo images shaped for their region
TitleFor example, Campus Notices or Community Information
ReminderFor example, Check notice dates; ask the service desk for details

A dense A4 document in a small region is often unreadable. Reformat key dates, locations and instructions in large text first. Use a separate full-screen document program for detailed material when needed.

2. Create the noticeboard layout

Create a landscape 16:9 program named Noticeboard - Everyday Information. Alternatively, adapt a personal copy of an information-board template.

RegionHorizontal rangeVertical rangeContent
Notice title0% → 100%0% → 12%Text

Event images70% → 100%12% → 90%Two images
Reminder0% → 100%90% → 100%One text item

If a notice is still unreadable in the 70%-wide region, enlarge it to full screen and use a separate program for event images. Preserve readability rather than forcing every region into one view.

3. Configure document playback

With a PDF

  1. Select Main notice, add PDF media and upload or choose the file.
  2. Choose page-by-page playback and Contain display mode.
  3. Start with 15 seconds per page. Three pages take roughly 45 seconds per cycle; adjust for reading time.
  4. Enable page numbers when useful.
  5. To keep one page visible, use the specified-page mode and enter the correct page number.

If your account has no PDF option, or the device's result is unsuitable, export pages as JPG/PNG and use the method below. See PDF media.

With page images

Add each page as an image in the same region, arrange them by page number, set each to 15 seconds and choose Contain. Keep random and fixed playback off.

Check the first and last pages, footnotes and edges for missing pages, cropping and unreadable text.

4. Add event images and a reminder

Add two images to Event images, start with 10 seconds each and choose a simple transition. This region rotates independently of the document; both sides do not need the same page count.

Use one text item for Reminder. Prefer a short static sentence; if scrolling is necessary, start slowly enough to read it. Updating the program timestamp does not put a publication date into the notice itself. Include required dates in the content or use the appropriate dynamic data.

5. Schedule everyday and temporary notices

Keep the everyday board, and create a separate full-screen program for a temporary notice with an actual expiry time.

ContentCasting relationSchedule
Everyday noticeboardMain program with a long-term relationNo time restriction, medium priority
Regular weekly eventAppend as a main programRecurring weekly start and stop on selected weekdays
One temporary noticeAppend as a main programOne-time start/stop, high priority

The temporary program takes precedence while valid. The still-valid everyday program resumes after expiry. A date printed in an image does not replace the stop-time setting. See play plans.

Optional: add only a temporary strip

Create a separate program with the same orientation and ratio as the main program. Leave most of its canvas transparent and place a notice strip at the bottom.

Save, cast with Append and the Overlay Program layer, and set its valid time. A main program must be playing underneath. An opaque full-screen background would cover it. See overlay playback.

Start with a separate full-screen notice before using transparency and overlays. Scheduled notices here are not an automatic connection to an external emergency broadcast or alarm system.

6. Check on site and maintain

  • Read a complete notice from the normal viewing distance, not only in a phone preview.
  • Check every PDF/image page, signature and publication date.
  • Confirm the temporary notice expires and everyday content resumes.
  • Retire expired event images and update text such as “this week.”

Use cloud casting for Internet-connected devices, or private deployment/LAN direct on closed networks. Offline USB updates still require exporting/importing the new content and checking it on the Player.
