How to Authorize a Device
This page explains the actual operation steps. If you are still unsure whether to use Free Authorization, Cloud Authorization, or Local Authorization, read Device Authorization first.
The full device authorization process has three parts:
- Make sure the device appears in the device list of the Admin app.
- Prepare an available device authorization code.
- Click "Authorize" in the device list, select an authorization code, and confirm.
Check These Before Authorizing
1. The device is already bound to the current account or local service
Open the Admin app and go to the Devices page. If you can see the target Player device, the device has already been connected to the system.
If the device is not listed yet, bind it first or publish to it for the first time. The first publish to a new device often completes the binding process as well. You can also bind a device by entering its dynamic device code.
2. Your account has an available authorization
On the Admin home page, switch to the Devices tab. There is a "Device Auth" entry in the upper-right area. Open it to view authorization codes under the current account.
For regular users, the key page is the available authorization list. If no usable authorization is shown, contact your service provider, administrator, or project owner to assign authorization to the current account.
The authorization code list is usually organized by type and status:
- Cloud Device Auth: used for cloud management and remote publishing.
- Local Device Auth: used for private deployment, LAN direct connection, USB publishing, and other local scenarios.
- Valid: unused, unexpired, and still available for device authorization.
- All: includes used, expired, and historical authorization records.
Authorize a Cloud-Managed Device
Cloud device authorization is suitable when you need to manage devices and publish programs over the Internet.
Steps:
- Open the Admin app and sign in to the cloud account.
- Go to the Devices page.
- Find the device that needs authorization.
- Click "Authorize" on the device card. You can also open the device details page and click "Authorize" in the Device Authorization section.
- The system opens the device authorization list.
- Select an available Cloud Device Auth code and wait for the process to complete.
- Return to the device list and check the device authorization information. If an expiration time is shown, authorization succeeded.
After authorization succeeds, the system notifies the Player device to refresh its authorization status. In most cases, you do not need to restart the Player. If the network is unstable, wait a moment or refresh the device status manually.
Authorize a Local Device
Local device authorization is suitable for private deployment, LAN direct connection, USB publishing, offline usage, and similar scenarios.
The steps are similar to cloud authorization:
- Open the local service or LAN management environment.
- Go to the Devices page and confirm that the target device is listed.
- Click "Authorize" on the device card, or open the device details page and click "Authorize".
- In the authorization list, select an available Local Device Auth code.
- Confirm and wait for the authorization process to complete.
- Return to the device list and check the local authorization expiration time.
WARNING
Local device authorization is bound to the device. After it is used, it usually cannot be returned to the account and assigned to another device like cloud authorization. Confirm the target device before using a local authorization code.
How to Check Whether Authorization Succeeded
In the device list or device details page, you can see the device authorization information:
- "Cloud Authorization" with an expiration time: cloud authorization is valid.
- "Local Authorization" with an expiration time: local authorization is valid.
- "Free Authorization": the device is using the free authorization capability.
- "Unauthorized" or an expired date: the device has no usable authorization, or the authorization has expired.
After authorization succeeds, the device can normally receive and play published programs. If the device still reports that it is unauthorized, check:
- Whether the Admin app is connected to the correct cloud account, local service, or LAN host.
- Whether the device is online.
- Whether the selected authorization code has already been used, has expired, or is the wrong type.
- Whether the Player has received the authorization refresh notification.
How to Cancel Authorization
Open the device details page. In the Device Authorization section, you can find the "Cancel Authorization" button.
- Cloud authorization is usually returned to the account after cancellation and can be assigned to another device, but the number of replacements is limited.
- Local authorization usually is not returned as a reusable authorization after cancellation, so use this operation carefully.
If a device is no longer in use, cancel the authorization first, then unbind or delete the device.
FAQ
What if there is no authorization code to select?
It means the current account has no matching available authorization. Contact your service provider, administrator, or project owner to assign authorization to the account, and check whether existing authorizations have expired, have already been used, or are the wrong type.
What if authorization fails after selecting a code?
First check whether the device is online, whether the authorization code is available, and whether the device belongs to the current account or local service. For local authorization, also confirm that the device is the intended target for that authorization code.
Do I need to manually select a free authorization?
Usually no. Free authorization is mainly used for initial testing or trying one device after registration. If the device list already shows Free Authorization, or the device works normally for testing, no extra authorization code needs to be selected.
