Program Export and Import

Program Export packages a program configuration and the media used directly by that program into a ZIP file. You can use the package for backup, move a program between Cloud and LAN Service, or copy it to a USB disk for automatic import and playback on a player.

Availability

Export and import are currently available only in native management apps for Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. They are not available in the Web management app.

Supported sources

ActionSupported sourcesNotes
ExportCloud, LAN Service, and TemplatesThe combined media size for Cloud and Template programs must not exceed 50 MB. LAN Service has no such limit.
ImportEditable Cloud and LAN Service sourcesImport creates a new program and new media. It never overwrites the source program. Templates cannot be imported directly.

50 MB limit

For Cloud and Template programs, the limit is calculated from the original size of the media to be downloaded. Up to 50 MiB (52,428,800 bytes) is allowed. Export is also rejected if a media size cannot be determined. This restriction does not apply to LAN Service.

Export a program

  1. In the management app, switch to the source that contains the program, such as Cloud, LAN Service, or Templates.
  2. Open the program list and find the program to export.
  3. Select the More button on the program card, and then select Export.
  4. Wait for the program and its media to be prepared. Remote media must be downloaded first, so keep the network connected and do not close the progress window.
  5. When export succeeds, use the system share window to save the ZIP, send it to another device, or copy it to a USB disk.

The filename contains the program name and export time, for example:

text
Lobby_Welcome_20260817_153012.zip

This prevents consecutive exports from overwriting one another. You may rename the ZIP file itself, but do not change its internal structure.

Import a program

  1. In the management app, switch to the destination Cloud or LAN Service.
  2. Open the program list and select Add Program.
  3. Select Import as the creation method.
  4. Choose a ZIP generated by Program Export.
  5. Wait for the media upload and program creation to finish. The new program appears in the current program list after a successful import.
  6. Open the new program, verify its content, and then edit or publish it as required.

Every import creates an independent program and independent media records. Importing the same ZIP again creates another program; it does not update or overwrite a previous import.

ZIP package requirements

Use Program Export to create the ZIP whenever possible. A valid package must meet these requirements:

  • cast.json is in the ZIP root.
  • Required package media remains under gallery/.
  • Files inside the ZIP have not been deleted, moved, or modified.
  • The ZIP is complete and was not left incomplete by an interrupted download or copy.

An import contains program content and media only. It does not import casting relations, devices, approval state, or playback history. The current version also does not recursively package custom fonts or nested program dependencies. Check programs that use these features after importing them into the destination.

Play an exported program from USB

Copy the exported ZIP to the USB root, select Copy and Replace or Copy and Append on the player, and then insert the USB disk. The player gives program ZIPs priority. See USB Disk Play for the complete rules.

Troubleshooting

Export or Import is not available

Make sure you are using a native management app. Export is available for Cloud, LAN Service, and Templates. Import is shown only for editable Cloud or LAN Service sources. Neither action is currently available in the Web management app.

A Cloud or Template program exceeds 50 MB

This is a traffic-protection limit for remote export. Reduce the media used directly by the program, or use LAN Service to handle larger programs.

Why did import create another program?

This is expected. Import always creates a new program and does not overwrite existing data using IDs stored in the ZIP.

The ZIP opens in another archive tool but cannot be imported

A readable ZIP is not necessarily a valid program package. Make sure cast.json is in the ZIP root and that no required file is missing from gallery/. The safest solution is to export the program again with Program Export.
