Online Point-to-Point Casting
Online point-to-point casting sends a program stored in the Admin app's local service directly to a display managed by your online account. Program files travel from the sender to the display without first uploading them to the platform media library. Sign-in, device selection and connection coordination still use the online service.
The two devices do not need to share a LAN. Both need Internet access and a network that allows a direct connection. Some corporate, campus or mobile networks may prevent this connection.
For cloud storage, frequent updates or centralized publishing to many displays, start with regular Cloud Casting. This tutorial uses an Android Admin app to send one local program to an Android Player.

Before you start
- Use the Standard edition with this feature on both devices. The Compatibility edition does not support point-to-point transfer. If the entry is missing, update the Player and update the Admin app.
- Bind the display to your online account using its online device dynamic code. The account must have permission to manage it. See the dynamic-code steps in Cloud Casting if it is not bound yet.
- Keep both apps running and online, leave enough free storage, and enable automatic system time.
- Prepare a complete local program. Start with a few images. The current program package limit is 200 MiB; custom fonts and nested programs are not supported yet.
Step 1: Allow reception on the Player
At the TV, press Back on the remote to open the Player home screen. Without a remote, double-tap the playback screen to return.
Find Online peer-to-peer reception in the online casting card. Reception is enabled by default. Once the display is bound and connected, it shows Ready to receive. Select the area and press OK on the remote, or tap it, to toggle reception.
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Disable | Enable reception |
| No online device bound | Bind the display using your online account in the Admin app |
| Online device disconnected | Check the Player's network and wait for reconnection |
| Ready to receive | Create a transfer task in the Admin app |
You do not need to enable the Player's LAN Service (Directly Connect). The service in the next step runs on the sending Admin device and stores programs and sends files.
Turning reception off rejects new receiving sessions. A task already in progress continues, and previously received programs remain playable.
Step 2: Open the Admin app's local service
On the Admin home screen, select LAN Service, enable it, wait for On Service, and tap Open Local Admin Console.
The active source changes to the local service address, for example http://127.0.0.1:9393. This is the sender's own address. Do not replace it with the TV's IP address. HTTPS setup is not required for this local connection.
If asked to sign in, use the local service password. For a new service, follow the initial-password hint on the login screen; use your updated password if it has been changed. This local login is separate from your online account.
Step 3: Choose a local program and open the casting menu
Under My Program in the local service, create or open a program and upload the required media there. Make sure all files are saved locally. Do not use the program list under the online source.
Tap Cast on the program card, then choose Point-to-point casting.
If the option is missing, check that the Admin app is a supported Standard edition, the program belongs to the local service, and your account can publish it. The regular online Web Admin cannot send files directly. A browser must connect to a local service that supports this feature.
Step 4: Choose the online account and target display
Check Online account for casting. Sign in if necessary, or use Switch account to select an account that can manage the target display.
Tap Select an online display, choose the receiving device and confirm. Each task targets one display. Offline displays can also be selected; the task waits for them to come online.
Check the program, account and display, then tap Create transfer task. Do not submit repeatedly while creation is in progress.
The app automatically creates a task credential valid for up to about seven days. You do not need to create an API Key manually. Use the expiry shown in task details; create a new task if it expires.
Step 5: Check progress and the final result
After successful creation, Transfer task details shows the display, current stage, bytes received by the display, progress and expiry.
Leaving the page does not cancel the task. Return to the local service's program list and tap My transfer tasks at the top right (under More Action (…) on narrower screens) to view it again. Use the same local service and the local account that created the task.
Keep the sender's local service and the Player running with network access. On phones and tablets, keep the Admin app in the foreground to avoid interruptions caused by screen locking, battery saving or background cleanup.
| Stage or result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Preparing program | Collecting assets and packaging the program |
| Waiting to transfer / Waiting for the display to come online | Queued until the required conditions are met |
| Connecting / Transferring | Establishing the direct connection or sending files; check received bytes |
| Verifying file / Importing program | Processing continues after file transfer; 100% does not mean success |
| Cast successfully; added to the playlist | Import is complete; check the Player playlist |
| Casting failed / Expired / Cancelled | Read the reason in task details and follow the guidance |
| Casting result unknown | Check the Player playlist first, then use Check result instead of creating duplicate tasks |
During playback, the Player also shows reception, verification and import progress in the lower-right corner. Completion messages appear briefly. Press Back to open the home screen and find the program with the Online peer-to-peer source in the playlist.
The program is appended to the playlist. Existing schedules and fixed playback remain unchanged. If it does not play immediately after reception, check whether another program is fixed for playback or the new program's schedule has not started.
Common questions
Creation says the online service address is not allowed
This happens before a task is created or any file is sent to the display. Confirm that the local and online services use matching distribution channels, then ask your service provider to check the allowed online service addresses and HTTPS configuration. Waiting, repeatedly submitting or changing the display network will not resolve this configuration issue.
If My transfer tasks still shows No transfer tasks, no task has been found for the current local account; transfer has not been confirmed. If creation is explicitly reported as unconfirmed, check the original request as instructed before creating another task.
It stays on Connecting, or the connection fails
Confirm that the display is online with reception enabled, neither service has been stopped by the system, system clocks are correct and storage is available. Try another network. Some networks cannot establish a direct connection; use regular Cloud Casting, or LAN Direct when both devices share a LAN.
Wait while automatic retries are pending. If a failed task offers Cast again, it creates a new task from the original saved package. Later program edits are not included, and the original expiry is unchanged. To send an edited program, create a new task from the program list.
The program is incomplete or unsupported
Make sure the program and all its assets are saved in the local service, fully synchronized and preview correctly. Reduce the content to keep the package within 200 MiB, remove custom fonts and nested programs, then create a new task.
The target display is missing
Check the online account selected on the casting page and whether that account can manage the display. Binding a device only to a local service or private deployment does not bind it to the online account.
Can I disable reception or cancel sending?
Turning off reception prevents new receiving sessions; the current task continues. To stop sending, tap Cancel task in the Admin task details and wait for the final status. Import may already have completed during the final stage, so check the result after cancellation.
What does Casting result unknown mean?
The final result has not been confirmed; the program may already have arrived. Check the Player playlist, then tap Check result in the original task details. Avoid repeatedly creating tasks, which can add duplicate programs.
